THC Vape Pens & Cartridges

THC vape products are sold in three main formats: disposable pens with a built-in battery, 510-thread cartridges for a separate battery, and pods for a matching device. Delivery is for adults 19+ in Surrey, Langley and White Rock.

Disposable pens, cartridges and pods

A disposable pen is pre-filled and has a built-in battery, and the whole device is discarded once it is empty. A 510-thread cartridge screws onto a separate battery. A pod clicks into a battery made for that pod system and usually will not fit other brands.

Battery compatibility

510 is a common thread size, so most 510 cartridges fit most 510 batteries, though fit and voltage settings can vary by maker. Use a charger with a recognized Canadian certification mark, such as CSA or cUL, and do not charge the battery longer than recommended.

Reading a vape label

Vape oil is in the cannabis extract class. Its label shows Total THC and Total CBD in mg/g and the net weight in grams. Multiply the two to estimate the total THC: 800 mg/g in a 0.5 g cartridge is about 400 mg. Federal rules cap THC at 1,000 mg per container of cannabis extract. The extract type, such as distillate or rosin, is often shown in the product name or description. Health Canada's guide to reading a cannabis product label explains the rest, including the ingredient list and lot number.

Regulated products and the excise stamp

Regulated cannabis vape products in Canada carry the standardized THC symbol, a yellow health warning box and a federal excise stamp that seals the package. Stamp colours differ by province; the BC stamp is teal. Health Canada notes that the aerosol from vaping cannabis can contain harmful substances; see its page on the risks of vaping.

Storage and battery disposal

Keep vape products in their original child-resistant packaging, at room temperature and out of reach of children and pets. Do not use a battery that is swollen, dented or damaged. Lithium-ion batteries, including the ones inside disposable pens, are hazardous waste and do not belong in household garbage. See Health Canada's lithium-ion battery safety page, and check with your city for battery drop-off locations.

Vape pen questions

Can THC vape oil contain sweeteners, caffeine or vitamins?

No. Federal rules do not allow sugars, sweeteners or sweetening agents, caffeine or colouring agents as ingredients in cannabis extracts, including vape oil. Vitamins are also not allowed, except in the amount needed to maintain the product's quality or stability. Health Canada sets out the full composition requirements for cannabis products.
