New Westminster neighbourhoods

The city is small in area but splits into a long list of distinct neighbourhoods. Here is how our delivery area breaks down.

Along the river

Downtown and the Quayside area around Columbia Street, Front Street and the waterfront, plus the Brow of the Hill streets that climb steeply up from the river.

Uptown and the middle of the city

Uptown around Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue, Moody Park, Glenbrook North and the historic Queen’s Park neighbourhood.

East side

Sapperton, including the Brewery District, along with Massey-Victory Heights and the Fraserview area on the slope above the Fraser.

West side

The West End and Connaught Heights, next to the Burnaby boundary.

Queensborough

The part of New Westminster on the eastern tip of Lulu Island, reached by the Queensborough Bridge. It is fully inside our delivery area.

New Westminster uses two postal prefixes. V3L generally covers the northeast half of the city, including Sapperton, and V3M covers the southwest half, including Queensborough. One thing to watch: Annacis Island also uses V3M codes but is part of Delta, so addresses there fall under our Delta delivery page.

Notes for the Royal City

New Westminster was the first capital of the Colony of British Columbia, and its name was chosen by Queen Victoria, which is where the nickname “the Royal City” comes from. Many of its older streets run straight up and down a steep hillside above the Fraser. That slope is worth keeping in mind when you order. Some Brow of the Hill and Downtown buildings have entrances on two different streets at two different levels, so tell us which door to use in the delivery notes.

The waterfront has filled in with condo towers between Westminster Pier Park and the River Market, and Uptown has its own cluster of towers around Royal City Centre. Five SkyTrain stations sit inside the city (New Westminster, Columbia, 22nd Street, Sapperton and Braid), and many of the newer buildings near them use buzzer entry. Adding your buzzer code and unit number at checkout saves time at the door.

Queen’s Park and Glenbrook North are mostly older detached homes, some split into suites. If you live in a basement or garden suite, add a note such as “side door” or “rear suite” so the driver goes to the right entrance.
